• After that you can go to the folder to open the program again. Just go to the Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended 12.0.4 SE folder, then click the PhotoshopPortable folder. At that point you can right click the .exe file and Run As Administrator once again! (I would suggest pinning the program to your toolbar if you could.)

How do you get clear gifs?
I use at least 720p clips whenever possible, especially if I’m giffing YouTube videos. I also try not to oversharpen or make them too saturated. Here’s a guide for making high quality gifs.

You can download the action for my glossy sharpening here. I use it on all of my gifs and it’s been downloaded over 5,000 times. The reason I’m sharing this is that some gif makers believe you should never use gaussian blur, and that’s okay. But it actually creates a softer finish that a lot of people love. I always pick diffusion because I think it makes the gif clearer. Other people think pattern looks better. It sometimes depends on the scene. You can view my save settings here.

What’s the gif size limit? Max frames?
The maximum gif size is 10 MB, but I still aim for under 3 MB so that the quality remains high. You can read more about the gif size limits here. There’s no limit on the number of frames.

Should I use the old or new dimensions?
I’ve switched to the new dimensions because they look better on the dash. Use whichever ones you prefer. You can view the old dimensions here and new dimensions here.

What frame delay do you use?
I use 0.05 seconds and cap every frame. If I only have a few frames to work with (say less than 20 frames) and the gif is repeating too quickly, I’ll set it to 0.06 seconds to slow it down. If you save any of my gifs and open it in Photoshop, you can see the frame delay I used for that particular gif.

What version of Photoshop do you use?
Photoshop CS5 because it’s the version I’m most familiar with.

How do you sharpen photos?
I apply the Smart Sharpen filter to the photo (Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen). Set the radius to 0.2px-0.3px and amount to 400%. Remove gaussian blur and check the “More Accurate” box. These settings came from this photographer.
